The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards were hosted recently, and in a stunning display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. The surprise role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the coveted Top Game award, along with honors for Superb Storytelling and Best Visual Design.

Complementing the developer's success, the gifted actors also received individual awards. Jennifer English was named Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Performer for his role as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Studio of the Year. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved seven awards throughout the show.

Additional major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Outstanding Audio and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Outstanding Independent Game and PC Game of the Year. Notably, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only four awards—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough, Hall of Fame, and Streamer Selection—determined by experts.
